A new Walsall project is offering free bicycle safety checks, minor repairs and learn-to-ride sessions to help more residents feel confident getting on a bike.

On Ya Bike is being delivered by Walsall Council with Cycling UK and funded through Transport for West Midlands' and Capability Fund.

Free Dr Bike sessions are being held at Walsall Arboretum, where mechanics can check bikes and carry out minor fixes. Learn-to-ride sessions at Willenhall Memorial Park are aimed at people who are new to cycling or want help rebuilding confidence.

The project links active travel with health and community connection. A bike that needs a small repair, or simply not knowing where to begin, can be enough to stop somebody cycling. Removing those barriers is a practical place to start.
