A sports-themed charity lunch in Wolverhampton has raised nearly £2,000 for four local organisations working across youth support, community food and sport.
The event was hosted by Mayor of Wolverhampton Councillor Paul Singh at COSMO in Bentley Bridge, with the restaurant providing the venue so money raised could go directly to good causes.
The beneficiaries are Inspire You, Wolverhampton Boxing Club, Friend of Di’s Kitchen and Wolverhampton Judo Club. Fundraising during the event included raffles and an auction, while local sporting figures and community leaders joined the lunch.
It is a fairly simple bit of civic alchemy: lunch, sport and local businesses turned into money for organisations already doing useful work around the city.
