Communities around Bowbeat Wind Farm in Scotland are set to benefit from a new fund worth £156,000 a year.
RWE established the community benefit fund as part of plans to extend the operational life of the wind farm, with annual funding committed through its remaining planned operation to 2030.
Community benefit funds can give places hosting energy a direct of money for local priorities, from facilities and services to projects developed by residents themselves.
The new Bowbeat arrangement creates a predictable multi-year pot rather than a one-off award, giving local organisations more scope to plan ahead.
