Community groups across South Lanarkshire have a new pot of funding to turn local climate ideas into practical projects, with a £450,000 programme now open for applications.

The Clyde Wind Farm South Lanarkshire Community Grant Fund is financed by SSE Renewables and administered by South Lanarkshire Council. Grants will usually fall between £5,000 and £20,000, although larger awards may be considered where proposals show strong impact and value.

ideas can range from energy-efficiency and renewable-energy projects to waste reduction, greener public spaces, and work that helps neighbourhoods cope better with the effects of climate change. The council says many projects may be fully funded, depending on the proposal.

The scheme is designed for local organisations that can a practical benefit for their community as well as a contribution to Net Zero. Groups can access full guidance and application documents through the council’s funding pages.

Anyone shaping an idea can also learn more at a Community Climate Event at Whitehill Neighbourhood Centre on 8 September.
