Leicester’s Waterside streets are being temporarily handed over to bikes, street art, music and families when Open Streets returns on Sunday 30 August.

The free mini-festival runs from 1pm to 4pm around Graff HQ in Jarvis Street, building on a May event that attracted more than 1,000 people.

Activities include adapted cycling sessions from Wheels for All, pedal-powered junk-art bikes, guided tours, a street-art jam, music and hands-on workshops.

The point is partly , partly creativity and partly the pleasantly radical idea that a street can occasionally be somewhere to play rather than merely somewhere to get through.
