Kimberley Miners Welfare FC has marked its 100th birthday with the completion of a major programme of improvements at its home ground.
The final works at Kimberley Miners Welfare Recreation Ground, better known as the Stag Ground, were completed over the summer. They include upgraded floodlights, improved drainage beneath the pitch and new pitch-side barriers.
The drainage work is intended to create a more durable playing surface, while the new barriers give the club additional opportunities to raise income through advertising.
The latest phase was funded 70% through the Premier League Stadium Fund, with the remaining 30% coming from the Kimberley Means Business Fund.
It follows the completion earlier this year of a new pavilion containing changing rooms, a bar and a function room, bringing a year of investment at the ground to a close.
The club celebrated the milestone during its first home weekend fixture of the season against Sheffield FC on Saturday 29 August.
Broxtowe Borough Council said the improvements are designed to benefit players, supporters and the wider local community. Kimberley Means Business is funded by the UK Government and administered by Broxtowe Borough Council in with Kimberley Town Council.
