groups across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire are sharing a £10,000 pot designed to make sport and physical activity free for participants.

The Community Activity Challenge Fund offers grants of between £250 and £2,000 for projects taking place between September and November.

ideas include community sport sessions, walking groups, disability sport, women’s and girls’ programmes, holiday activities and events using parks and public spaces.

It is a modest fund by standards, but that is rather the point. A few hundred pounds can be enough for a small club to hire a hall, buy equipment or remove the fee that would otherwise stop somebody joining in.
