Thirty-three community-led projects across the Greater Anglia rail network are sharing £350,000 for ideas that make stations, journeys and local connections more useful.
The 2026 Customer and Community Improvement Fund includes £29,674 for train-accessible mobility scooters for the Jaywick community, £12,655 for a Travel Buddies scheme supporting travel for older people, and £2,250 for youth travel support in the Cam Valley.
Other awards cover cycle storage, station gardens, local , tourism, community art, accessibility and links between rail and other forms of transport.
The projects were put forward by community rail partnerships, charities, , station adopters and other local groups. Rather than one large scheme swallowing the pot, the money is being split across dozens of smaller changes shaped by the places using them.
That means the railway improvement might be a mobility scooter, a safer cycle connection, a travel buddy or simply a station that feels more connected to the town outside its doors.
