Birmingham Airport has passed £200,000 raised for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity just 18 months into a three-year .
The airport originally set a target of £250,000 between 2025 and 2028, putting staff, passengers, concessions and local businesses well ahead of schedule.
Money raised so far has helped create a sensory room, supported the hospital’s MediCinema and contributed to improvements in its Emergency Department. Airport staff have also given hundreds of volunteering hours at the hospital.
The fundraising itself has ranged from a charity dinner that brought in £63,000 to a night-time runway run, a 104-foot abseil and a static-bike challenge covering the equivalent distance from Birmingham to Cancun. Apparently simply putting a collection tin by departures was never going to be enough.
