Nearly four million women in England who are not up to date with cervical screening are set to be offered HPV self-testing kits as the NHS expands access to screening.

people will be able to order a free kit after receiving an invitation through the NHS App or other NHS communications. The is collected privately at home and posted back for testing for high-risk HPV.

If high-risk HPV is detected, the person will be invited for follow-up cervical screening with a clinician. The home kit is an additional option for people who have not taken up previous invitations, designed to reduce barriers such as embarrassment, discomfort, time and previous difficult experiences.
