young people can now use the NHS National Booking Service to arrange either dose of the MenB vaccine, making it simpler to complete the full course.
The expansion took effect on 27 August. Previously, the online service had more limited booking arrangements, while the updated system allows eligible people to book both their first and second appointments directly.
Two doses are needed, given at least 28 days apart. NHS England says more than 35,000 MenB doses had already been delivered through the programme in the Midlands.
Meningococcal B disease can cause meningitis and sepsis. Making appointments easier to arrange does not remove every barrier to vaccination, but it reduces one practical hurdle for young people trying to protect themselves.
