Liverpool City Region has secured a £380 million first-wave housing expected to support around 3,100 new social and affordable homes.

The programme covers the six boroughs of Liverpool, Wirral, Sefton, Knowsley, St Helens and Halton, with councils and housing associations able to use the funding to expand affordable and supply.

The allocation forms part of the national Social and Affordable Homes Programme. Regional partners will now determine the detailed pipeline and where individual homes are delivered.

Large housing announcements are easy to measure in millions. The useful unit is smaller: 3,100 households with the possibility of a more secure front door.
