A 13-year-old from Grimsby has won a community award after raising £40,000 for charities and using his own experience to challenge misconceptions about living with a stoma.

Jax lives with a stoma himself and has become an for greater understanding and acceptance. His fundraising supports Colostomy UK and A Bear Named Buttony, a project that helps children undergoing stoma surgery.

North East Lincolnshire Council recognised his work through a Community Award, highlighting both the money has raised and the way he has spoken openly about life with a stoma.

His campaigning is about more than fundraising. By talking publicly about his own experience, Jax is helping other children and families see that a stoma does not have to shrink somebody’s ambitions or confidence.
