A Hull charity hockey match has chosen an unusually difficult fixture to predict: Team SpongeBob versus The Smurfs.

The free fancy-dress event is raising money and awareness for fostering services in the city, using a playful match to start conversations about the need for foster carers and support for local children.

Community fundraising does not always need a black-tie dinner or a punishing endurance challenge. Sometimes apparently sensible adults can put on cartoon costumes, pick up hockey sticks and make a serious issue easier for families to approach.
