Construction has started on 84 affordable homes in East Hull as the long-running of the Ings estate moves into another phase.
The Balham Avenue development will include two, three and four-bedroom homes for affordable rent and shared ownership. It forms part of a wider programme expected to deliver more than 700 homes, around 400 of which have already been completed.
The new properties are planned with insulation, solar panels, electric-vehicle charging and water-saving features. The scheme also includes green space, trees, hedges, play areas and walking routes.
Partners are also working with local organisations on employment, training and support for community groups. Regeneration is a vague word until people can point at a new front door, a park or a training place. This phase has all three in view.
