Derby Theatre has secured for a major redevelopment that will add a purpose-built studio theatre and create more room for community activity, learning and artist development.
The theatre, which is owned by the University of Derby, plans to expand its performance and participation spaces as part of a wider capital transformation programme.
The new studio will provide a flexible home for new productions, while additional learning and community areas will support work with schools, local groups, students and emerging artists.
The project follows a £10 million UK Government funding award made in 2023. Derby Theatre already combines professional productions with education and community programmes, so the redevelopment is designed to increase both what can happen on its stages and who can take part behind the scenes.
