Seventeen community-led projects across Bradford have received small grants to turn local creative ideas into practical climate action.

The projects were selected through The Leap’s Creative Climate Action Awards, which offer up to £1,500 to residents, artists and community organisations using arts, culture or creativity to encourage more ways of living.

The successful ideas include a musical-instrument recycling project in Shipley, a youth horticulture programme in Undercliffe and creative environmental events including compost-themed puppet theatre. Yorkshire Women’s Forum is also using its award to develop education around upcycling and recycling household and textile products.

The awards are part of a wider £1.5 million community climate programme in Bradford and Keighley. The emphasis is on putting resources directly into local groups, particularly communities that have traditionally had less influence in climate discussions.
