Volunteer rescuers in Worcestershire have received new medical equipment and additional training support after a county public-health helped Severn Area Rescue expand its capability.
The funding has paid for new medical kits, upgrades to equipment at Kidderminster Fire Station, recruitment of more volunteers and further training for the existing team.
SARA provides search, water and rope rescue across Worcestershire. Its volunteers have supported emergency services during this summer’s heatwaves and recent fires around Stourbridge, as well as patrolling the River Severn to warn people about the risks of open-water swimming.
The association says the investment will help it train more volunteers and improve the equipment crews use when responding to incidents across the county.
