Volunteers are feeding and supporting firefighters during major wildfire responses

A Cambridgeshire-based charity has been sending volunteer teams to provide hot food, drinks and welfare support to firefighters tackling major wildfires around the country.

Volunteer teams have been travelling to wildfire incidents around the country to provide firefighters with hot meals, drinks and a place to pause during long shifts in difficult conditions.

The Rapid Relief Team, a Cambridgeshire-based charity, has supported crews at major fires including incidents in the New Forest, Dunwich Heath and Holme Fen.

Volunteers set up mobile food and welfare stations close to emergency operations, helping keep crews fed and hydrated while they work. The charity relies on donations and volunteers to provide the service.

During particularly busy periods, several teams can be deployed at the same time around the country. It is a quieter part of emergency response, but practical support such as food, water and rest can make a meaningful difference to people working for hours in heat, smoke and protective equipment.
