An indoor beach in Glasgow has turned nine weeks of sandcastles and family visits into £50,000 for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

Silverburn’s Flamingo Beach welcomed around 21,000 visitors during its fourth summer. Money raised through the attraction and the charity’s pop-up stand will support young patients and families connected with Scotland’s largest children’s hospital.

The annual event has now raised £187,887 over four summers. Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, which marks its 25th anniversary this year, says supporters have helped it invest more than £53 million in projects for babies, children and families treated at the hospital.

The beach has become a regular summer fixture at the shopping centre, offering families an indoor place to play regardless of the weather while linking the activity directly to fundraising.
