A 16-year-old from Glasgow has raised more than £6,000 for the children’s hospital charity connected with the teams that have cared for her throughout her life.

Connie, who was with spinal dysraphism as a baby, organised a live music fundraiser called Connie’s Concert for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

She has received specialist care since birth, first at the former Yorkhill Hospital and later at the Royal Hospital for Children, including major spinal surgery when she was two.

The concert brought family, friends and supporters together around something celebratory rather than , turning Connie’s own long relationship with hospital care into practical support for other young patients and their families.

The final total passed £6,000. It is a fairly lovely reversal of roles: after years of a hospital helping her, Connie found a way to some help back through the doors.
