Brian Friel’s Faith Healer is returning to Belfast this autumn in a major Lyric Theatre production starring Conleth Hill.
The production opens for previews on 10 October and runs into November as part of the Lyric’s 75th anniversary year.
Friel’s play follows travelling faith healer Frank Hardy, his wife Grace and manager Teddy as they tell conflicting versions of their life on the road through Scotland and Wales. Since its premiere in 1979, the work has become one of Friel’s most internationally recognised plays.
Bringing it into the Lyric’s anniversary season gives Belfast audiences a chance to see a major new home-grown production of a work that has travelled far beyond Ireland while remaining deeply one of its most celebrated playwrights.
