Devon is looking for the people who quietly make local sport happen: the volunteer coaches, organisers, young leaders and teams who give their time without appearing on a payroll.
Nominations are open for the fifth Active Devon Volunteer Awards until 27 September. Categories cover different parts of the county, two young-volunteer age groups, volunteering teams and an award for diversity and inclusion.
Every nominee receives a certificate, with finalists announced in October and celebrations in November. sport tends to be photographed around players and trophies, but plenty of it would simply stop without the person who unlocks the hall, sorts the kit and turns up every week.
