Thirty-one museums, libraries and archive projects across Wales are receiving a combined £5.28 million to make cultural spaces more accessible, and useful.
The projects stretch from Holyhead Maritime Museum and Penmaenmawr Museum in the north to Pembroke Dock Centre, Swansea Museum and the Egypt Centre in the south.
Work includes refurbishing Newport’s children’s library, digitising collections, improving access, repairing historic buildings and upgrading environmental systems used to protect archives.
It is not one glamorous flagship project. It is dozens of smaller improvements spread through communities, which means more people should notice the investment in the library, museum or archive they actually use rather than only reading about it in a national announcement.
