A midnight 5k across the runway at Inverness Airport has raised more than £43,500 for Maggie’s Highlands, with hundreds of donations turning an unusual night-time challenge into practical support for people affected by cancer.

Participants were invited to run, jog or walk the airport course guided by the runway lights. The 2026 event also received a £10,000 match-funding boost from Highland charity Heather’s Heroes.

Maggie’s Highlands, based beside Raigmore Hospital, provides free practical, emotional and support for people with cancer as well as their families and friends. The Run the Runway event has raised more than £300,000 for the centre since it began.

Maggie’s reported after the event that the fundraising total had reached £43,522, with donations continuing to support the centre’s work across the Highlands.
