A Wrexham sports business has completed a 2-megawatt rooftop solar installation containing around 4,700 panels, in a project described as the largest single rooftop solar system in Wales.

Local company Rawson Solar installed the system for Net World Sports in three stages. The output is equivalent to the electricity used by more than 600 homes, while hybrid inverters have been installed in temperature-controlled containers so battery storage can be added in future.

Net World Sports says the project is intended to reduce both its energy costs and carbon footprint. Rawson Solar, also based in Wrexham, plans to expand its 14-strong Welsh with more apprentices by the end of 2026.

The development combines a large commercial renewable-energy project with local supply-chain work and potential new training opportunities in North Wales.
