Scotland plans more than 30 GP walk-in services

Scotland is expanding GP-led walk-in care, with 40 centres now planned or operating and new locations identified across the country.

More communities across Scotland are set to gain GP-led walk-in services as the programme expands beyond its first group of locations.

The Scottish Government says 40 centres are now planned or operational. Work is under way on services in places including Edinburgh, Inverness, Paisley, Falkirk, East Kilbride and West Lothian, alongside proposals for further communities.

The is designed to give people another route into care closer to home while easing pressure elsewhere in the health system. Eleven services have already opened since February 2026, and the pilot programme has been extended to April 2029.
