A site in Lochgelly that had stood vacant since 2018 has been turned into 44 affordable homes designed to help older people live independently with support available when they need it.

The Fife Council development includes 20 amenity homes and a 24-flat extra-care facility for people aged 55 and over. The mix includes wheelchair-accessible flats and bungalows, with features such as wet-floor showers and adjustable kitchen worktops in accessible properties.

The homes have also been built with energy efficiency in mind, using high-performance insulation, efficient windows and solar panels, with the development targeting an EPC rating of B.

The construction programme delivered 361 apprenticeship weeks and included work experience and training links with Fife College and Lochgelly High School. It is the seventh and final project delivered by Robertson in the latest phase of Fife Council’s Programme.
