More than £850,000 is being invested in Edinburgh to help children and young people take part in sport without cost becoming a barrier.

The city will receive £857,000 through Scotland’s Summer of Sport , funding free and low-cost activities for people aged three to 26 until March 2027.

The programme will include swimming, tennis, football, rugby, lawn bowling and cricket, alongside activities designed for young people with additional support needs.

Edinburgh City Council, Edinburgh Leisure, the University of Edinburgh, local clubs and community organisations will work together to deliver the programme. The focus is on giving more young people a realistic route into regular activity, whether they are already sporty or simply want somewhere welcoming to start.
