£96,000 Community Cashback fund reaches 23 grassroots groups across the UK

Twenty-three charities and community groups across all four UK nations are sharing £96,000 through SPAR’s latest Community Cashback grants.

Twenty-three charities and community groups across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are sharing £96,000 through the latest round of SPAR’s Community Cashback scheme.

The grants have gone to a wide mix of local organisations, including search and rescue teams, youth projects, groups and community sports clubs.

Among the larger awards, Cookstown charity Plough On received £10,000 to support older farmers experiencing rural isolation across 17 locations in Northern Ireland. The Cetacean and Rescue Unit in Gardenstown, Banff, also received £10,000 for marine conservation, research and its wildlife rescue service.

Other recipients include Missing Pets Dundee & Angus, Skywatch NI, K9 Search & Rescue NI and several youth and inclusion projects. The scheme is now in its fifth year and is designed to directly to organisations nominated by communities around local stores.
